Helpful Info about leaves & yard waste

LEAVES & YARD WASTE— Ripple Effects ripple-effects.com

Pile your leaves on the apron (the part of your yard next to the street), but not in the street for cleaner lakes!

Did you know that more than 50% of the annual amount of phosphorus in storm water can come from leaves in streets? Keeping our streets leaf-free before the rain can have a Ripple Effect on our waters. What can you do to help protect Madison Lakes?

🍁Pile leaves on the apron of your property, not in the street.

🍁The way to protect and clean your lakes and streams is to make sure only rain—and nothing else—goes into the storm drains and ditches!

Madison does not set a specific date / time for trick-or-treating; however, recommends Halloween night (31st) from 4-8 pm. 👻

The Madison Police Department reminds the community to:

  • Do not use toy weapons as part of any costume
  • Do not trick-or-treat alone
  • Only approach homes that are well lit, and only approach the front door
  • Stay on sidewalks and obey traffic signs / signals
  • Carry a flashlight
  • Let an adult check the candy 🍭 prior to eating
  • Ensure costumes do not impede movement or vision

Have a happy and safe Halloween!  🎃
